I am so happy to finally share some photos from our vacation to Bermuda. Bermuda has been on my mind for a few years now after seeing gorgeous photos of the pastel buildings and pink sand beaches. Having spent a week there, I cannot say enough great things about the amazing views, delicious food, and friendly locals. Sometimes vacation expectations exceed the experience, but for Bermuda, that was not the case.
We stayed in a cliff-side room at The Reefs. In addition to the incredible scene, the staff was wonderful and so friendly!
Horseshoe Bay Beach is famous for its pink sands and turquoise waters. We spent a long afternoon here sunning, swimming, rock climbing, and drinking dark & stormys. Chairs and umbrellas are available to rent and there are restrooms and showers on site. You could easily spend a full day here; however, I would suggest visiting on a day when the cruise ships are not in town to avoid the crowds.
Lunch at Swizzle Inn - oldest and most famous pub. I recommend to bring a friend to help you with one (or a couple)pitchers of rum swizzle and an order of their famous chili nachos.
Gibb's Hill Lighthouse
Climbed 185 steps to take in this view from the top of Gibb's Hill Lighthouse. It is truly a breathtaking view of the entire island.
I have nothing but fond memories of our trip to Bermuda. In short, here are a few recommendations to those of you who may be looking to visit:
Where to Stay:
We loved The Reefs! The staff was very friendly and helpful with coordinating activities both on and off the property. We also loved our turndown service every night which included a chocolate and a newsletter for the following day. Breakfast overlooking the ocean was my favorite part of the day, but the daily afternoon tea and snacks weren't too bad either. If I were to consider another property to stay at I would look into Rosewood Tucker's Point as they are also have high ratings.
What to do:
If you are feeling brave rent a scooter and take your own tour of the island. Just remember they drive on the other side of the road and the roads can be very narrow with limited visibility around some of the curves.
Tour the Crystal & Fantasy Caves. We really enjoyed this and it didn't take our whole day to visit. Bonus: if you are a Beyonce' fan - a small boat is left in the Fantasy cave from one of her videos.
Take the hike from Horseshoe Bay Beach to Warwick Long Bay Beach.
Climb to the top of Gibbs Hill Lighthouse to take in the island.
Drink a rum swizzle and dark n' stormy.
Eat a piece of rum cake. They serve this at most restaurants, but you can also visit The Bermuda Rum Cake Factory where they sell an assortment of flavors.
I'm already looking forward to our next Bermuda vacation. I have always wanted to have my own "go-to" beach place and, after visiting here, I think Bermuda is it! The weather, the beaches, the food, and the culture guarantee a perfect, relaxing vacation. Even better, because it is a short trip from the southeast, it makes going back such an easy decision.
